八方连猴票实寄封,1980.3.9四川重庆实寄日本
One of the most renowned stamps issued by the People's Republic of China on February 15, 1980, is the special stamp T46 "Gengshen Year." This is the first stamp from New China's inaugural series of Lunar Zodiac stamps, commemorating the Year of the Monkey. Today, unused Red Monkey stamps are considered auspicious and highly treasured. Genuine first-day covers actually mailed with the Red Monkey stamp are exceptionally rare. The "Red Monkey" was illustrated by Huang Yongyu, designed by Shao Bolin, engraved by Jiang Weijie, and produced using intaglio printing. The vibrant red color holds rich cultural significance in Chinese tradition. As the first stamp in this series was printed in limited quantities, most of the Monkey stamps were not preserved. Later, when philatelists resumed collecting or newcomers joined the hobby, these stamps had already become extremely scarce, making them highly prized rarities in New China's stamp collection.
This exhibit centers on the postal usage of the "Red Monkey" stamp and is presented as follows:
