On July 1, 2019, Germany issued a single "Microcosm – Moon Rock" stamp with a face value of €0.80. The main image shows a thin section of lunar basalt rock under 30x magnification, revealing interlaced mineral crystalline textures in orange, brown, black, and silver-white — a colorful array resembling an abstract natural painting. From the perspective of microscopic minerals, this stamp pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Rather than directly depicting astronauts, it showcases the lunar material itself, offering a unique and sophisticated viewpoint. The stamp measures 44.2 mm × 26.2 mm. The first-day cover bears two copies of the stamp, making up the required postage for the initial weight of an international airmail letter to China. The cover is canceled with a first-day commemorative postmark depicting a view of Earth from the moon. After arriving at the Shanghai International Exchange Bureau in China, a self-adhesive label with the Chinese address was added.
